Shadow removalWritten by Paul BourkeJuly 2019 Bulgarian translation by Zlatan Dimitrov.
One of the common issues with 3D reconstruction (sometimes called photogrammetry) is that one is generally capturing not just the geometry and texture, but also the lighting conditions. In particular shadows are baked into texture maps. These can be particularly difficult to remove manually. The following shows some attempts by newly released software to semi-automatically removing these lighting effects. The resulting images often look flat, as such, some examples of the models relit are also presented.
